Qigong therapy
Qigong is one of the essences of China's traditional culture and the treasure of the Chinese nation.
Medical Qigong therapy is an essential part of traditional Chinese medicine. It has a development history of thousands of years. It is still used in the clinic and has attracted more and more attention from modern medicine and science. Since the 1990s, Qigong therapy and its theoretical ideas in traditional Chinese medicine have been collected and sorted, gradually formed a system, and initially developed into an independent, ancient, and young Qigong of traditional Chinese medicine.
Qigong and sport
Qigong is a mental and physical exercise skill integrating body, breath and mind. Qigong focuses on entering a specific realm. It is called the realm of "Zen" in Buddhism Qigong and "the unity of heaven and man" in Daoist Qigong.
Qigong is different from sports which focus on training body movement. Qigong therapy pays more attention to the inside, while physical therapy pays more attention to the outside. There are some differences in the treatment scope and effect between Qigong and sport.
Psychotherapy
Qigong therapy has some elements of psychotherapy, but it is not limited to psychotherapy. Psychotherapy aims to adjust the psychological state of patients. Standardised methods such as cognitive and behavioural therapy, especially hypnotherapy, relate to Qigong therapy. This correlation is mainly reflected in some skills of adjusting psychological state. However, Qigong therapy has the content of regulating the heart and includes controlling the breath and body. It also requires entering the realm of three in one. Therefore, the connotation of Qigong therapy should be more comprehensive than psychotherapy. In addition, in psychotherapy, the general patient is passive. For example, in hypnosis, most doctors hypnotise the patient. The characteristic of Qigong therapy is to give play to the patient's subjective initiative. Under the guidance of doctors, patients recover their health through self-exercise.
Natural therapy
Qigong therapy is part of natural therapy. Natural therapy has a wide range, including many non-drug therapies, such as diet therapy, forest therapy, flower therapy, music therapy, hot spring therapy, etc. Most of these therapies originated from the people. They make full use of natural environmental resources. They are simple and easy. In addition to health care, they often have sound curative effects on specific diseases. From the perspective of natural therapy, Qigong therapy is a rehabilitation method to develop and utilise their innate potential, which can be combined with other natural therapies.
